Growing closer
This is one of the most beautiful things about Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). It does not just deal with surface issues. If EFT is followed through to later stages of therapy, it goes right to core emotional issues and enables couples to become each other’s best friends – best friends who can share the deepest struggles and find each other there as a safe, responsive, helping partner to wade through the deep waters and support one-another. Each person in-a-fashion becomes a type of “therapist” to the other – meaning a safe person with whom deep fears and emotions can be shared and experience loving and comforting acceptance which is a key portion of what we as therapists offer to our clients.
